Therapy Dog vs Service Dog

Many people confuse therapy dogs and service dogs. The basic differences are simple.

Therapy dogs are pets who are trained by their owners to provide comfort to people they visit.

Service dogs are trained by professionals to assist their owners in accomplishing everyday tasks.

Both are working dogs.

  • Service dogs have special privileges in our society because they help their owner to survive in this world.
  • Therapy dogs may only go where they are invited.
